Daniel (Danny) R. Winterrowd passed away suddenly on December 9, 2023. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Both will be held at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana.
Danny was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 14, 1952. He attended and graduated from Fair Park High School (1970) in Shreveport, where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sandy. After high school, Danny began a 31 year career with the Shreveport Fire Dept., then married Sandy on January 21, 1972. He also served four years in the US Air Force Reserves.
Danny spent his life as a humble and obedient servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A member of Summer Grove Baptist Church since 1972, he spent most of his remaining Sundays teaching Sunday school. While this was beyond important to him, his real passion was looking for any and all opportunities to sit down and tell someone about Christ.
A work accident in 1976 severely damaged Danny’s hands. Although this created an enormous amount of physical troubles for him that lasted the rest of his life, all it did was motivate him more to get out and spread the Gospel.
Danny loved traveling and riding bikes with Sandy, being with family and making memories. He enjoyed working in his yard, morning coffees on the patio, flying his drones and bonfires with his family by the pond. It was a perfect moment for him whenever he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth C. Winterrowd, mother Irma Lee Winterrowd, “Granny” Aline Winterrowd, and brother, James Winterrowd.
Danny is survived by his wife, Sandra Winterrowd, his children, Chris Winterrowd and wife, Rachelle, Holly Sanders and husband, Jason, and Vance Winterrowd and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaleigh, Caleb and Adaline, who all adored their beloved Pappy. Danny was a loving brother to and is survived by brothers Bobby, Kenny, and Michael and sisters, Joan and Janet.
