Death Notice

Daniel Wise

1949 - 2024

Daniel Wayne Wise, passed peacefully after a 4 month battle with Glioblastoma and Dementia. In the short time since his diagnosis back in September 2023, the family rallied to help make his final wishes a reality. Among those wishes included a cabin Christmas stay with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild, visiting the John Wayne Museum down in Iowa, hunting for the last time with his son, and a celebration of his life where he was able to visit with many of the friends, family, and coworkers that he's made memories with over his lifetime.
In his early years, Dan was in a band called Society's Child. Then in 1970 he married his wife of 53 years, Patricia. In the early years of their marriage, they owned Nob Hill Restaurant in Decorah, Iowa. Dan spent the majority of his working years at Culligan as one of their top salesmen earning several awards and lavish vacations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, a good movie and great food. He was known for stashing his favorite chips and chocolate treats, for making Christmas a magical experience year after year, and for being someone you could rely on. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could tell a story like no other; a trait he's passed down to a few family members.
Dan is preceded in death by his father Daniel F. Wise. He is survived by his loving wife; Patricia Wise, children; Jennifer Wise and Daniel JR (Jodi) Wise. Dan is also survived by his mother Eva Lou Wise, brother Jeff (Diana) Wise, sister Debra (Don) Harshman, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchild, friends, family, and his dog Riley.
Dan's final wish is to be cremated and have his ashes spread in all his favorite places and the family intends to fulfill those wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in Dan's memory, contributing to the great outdoors that Dan loved so dearly.
