Daniel Wittenmeyer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 19, 2026.
Daniel S. "Dan" Wittenmeyer, Sr.

March 9, 1957 – March 11, 2026

Daniel S. Wittenmeyer, Sr., known affectionately as Dan to his family, friends, and the many lives he touched, passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on March 9, 1957.

Dan was a lifelong Cape Cod resident whose life was a testament to bravery, loyalty, and quiet dedication.

Dan was a proud member of the West Barnstable Fire Department, steadily advancing through the ranks to become Deputy Chief. He was a long- time employee for the Town of Barnstable working at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit. Dan served as a Master Mason for the Masonic Lodge of Cotuit where he was able to continue helping the community he loved. Even in retirement, he never truly stopped working. Filling his days working on classic cars and as a jack of all trades to many. Beyond his professional life, Dan was a devoted family man who cherished time with his loved ones sharing stories, working on projects around the house, or simply being there with his steady, reassuring presence. He was the kind of person who led by example, offering help without fanfare and leaving a lasting impression of kindness and strength.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Holly, just shy of 50 years, his children Dan Jr. (Coleen), Caroline (Kyle) his cherished granddaughters Kylie, Caitlyn, Harley, and Bryley. Siblings Joe, Paul, and Bonnie as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy endures in the hearts of his family and friends.

A graveside service for Dan will be held on April 16, 2026 at 11 AM in Mosswood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you live life like Dan with an open mind and an open heart, check on your neighbor, and share a cold one with those you love.
