Daniel "Danny" Zamier a very beloved, father, grandfather and great grandfather gently passed away on November 18, 2025 at 100 years of age. Danny was a unique man who achieved many accomplishments throughout his wonderful life. Born in Rishon LeZion to Issac Zusmanovich, President of the Israeli Medical Association, and Rebecca Zusmanovich, one of Israel's first female dentists, he lived along with his brother Teddy. This family played a prominent role in the growth of what was once a small town and is now a bustling city outside of Tel Aviv.

Danny would joke that he wasn't much of a scholar however he was quite the warrior! He was an instrumental member of the Givati Brigade's 52nd Battalion fighting in the War of Independence which until Danny's last days was something he wore as a badge of honor.

Danny later married Vivian Metz, who was visiting Israel and tied the knot after three months of dating. This was quite a feat to take Danny "off the market" due to his active social life. Vivian was a teacher, Danny a trained electrician, who together decided to move to New York changing their last name to Zamier, which they felt would be easier for Vivian's students to pronounce and remember. And this was truly the beginning of a couple living "the American dream."

After residing in the Bronx until 1966 they moved along with their daughters Sharon and Janis to West Hempstead, Long Island as they embraced the suburban life. From there the family grew with five grandchildren named Lee, David, Matt, Justin & Samara followed by the birth of six great grandchildren named Andrew, Claire, Lily, Ayla, twins Mia and Winnie, and most recently Daniel who was named after his great grandfather which Danny was extremely honored by.

Later in life Vivian and Danny permanently moved to Delray Beach although in 2004 Vivian, who was an absolutely wonderful wife, mother and grandmother sadly passed away never meeting her great grandchildren, although surely looking down at them from heaven. Danny continued living in Delray Beach until he moved to an assisting living facility in Long Island to be closer to his family. It is said he made quite an impression on the staff due to his friendly manner and humor. And yet there is so much more that can be said about Danny, who someone recently referred to as a "giant of a man." He will surely forever be in our hearts and the voice in our heads as he rests in eternal peace.

To honor Danny, we ask that donations can be made to United Jewish Appeal (UJA), Hadassah or Magen David Adom (AFMDA) Israel's Emergency Services Organization.
