Danny Barber (58), of Bennett, Colorado, passed away on August 14, 2023. He passed away in Bennett, Colorado due to heath issues.
Danny was born on October 19, 1964, in Akron, Colorado, to Al and Donna Barber. He grew up with Rick, Trent, and Jim Barber. As a teen, he loved spending his time participating in wrestling, football, and working around the farm in both Bennett and Yuma, Colorado. One of his passions was restoring vehicles with his father and brothers. During his senior year of high school, coached by Mark Purslow, he became the first state champion of Bennett High School wrestling at 132 lbs. After graduating from Bennett High School, he attended Colorado School of Mines for a year to study engineering. This sparked his passion to pursue his electrical career. In his late 20's he met his wife Carrie Fisher. They were married for 10 years. They fell in love in Bennett, Colorado, but shortly after, spent their first years of marriage in Long Beach, California. They then returned back to Bennett to be closer to home. They had started a family, complete with Nick Wehrli, Danna Barber, and Garrett Barber. When Dan returned home, he started Bennett’s first pee-wee wrestling program, where they would haul the mats over and roll them out at the local VFW hall. He would also go on to coach high school wrestling and lead Bennett to their 3rd ever state champion. While in Bennett, he worked for a local electrical company as a journeyman. After achieving his master’s license, he started his own company which he named DeeBees Electric. The company’s home office was in the building that is now known as Woody’s Wings. He was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche fan.
Danny is survived by his father, Al Barber; three brothers, Jim, Rick, and Trent Barber; two sons, Nick Wehrli, and Garrett Barber; one daughter, Danna Barber; three grand- children, Bryson Moffat, Violet and August Wehrli; and a long list of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in passing by his mother, Donna Barber (Salvador); grandparents, Cecil and Bernice Salvador; Leola Wheatley; and Leland Barber.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW, 115 Palmer Ave, Bennett, CO 80102 on September 23rd, at 12PM. There will be food and refreshments. His family will be present to welcome loved ones and friends who are welcome to come.
