Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Danny Lee Burke, Sr., age 78, of Union Church Road in Thomson, who died at his home Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2025.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the Jordan Chapel Church of God in Edgehill with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Denton, David Cliett, Mike Maddox, Anthony Hobbs, Benji Sturkey, and Tyler Williams. The family will receive friends one hour before services on Saturday in the church.

A native of Screven County, GA, Mr. Burke was the only child of Brantley Burke and Arnita Smitt Burke. He worked many years as a security guard with Sizemore Security Company, was a Jack-of-all- trades, and loved just to piddle but what he loved the most was spending time with his family. Mr. Burke was a long-time, faithful member of Jordan Chapel Church of God.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mrs. Betty Burke of Thomson, daughters & sons-in-law: Brenda & Jim Caswell of Gibson, Peggy & Benji Sturkey of Thomson; son: Danny Lee Burke, Jr. (Linda Denton) of Dearing; sister-in-law: Katy Maddox (Mike); brother-in-law: David Cliett (Connie); 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
