Danny R. Hayes, affectionately known as "Face," passed away on January 22, 2025, his “last call”, at the age of 71 in Russells Point, Ohio. Born on November 20, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, Danny was a man of remarkable spirit and character, leaving an indelible mark on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Barbara Hayes, with whom he shared a life filled with love and laughter. Danny's legacy continues through his children, Melissa Schuehler (Josh), Rebecca Pettyjohn (Scott), Angela, Michelle, and Jennifer, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Cassidy, Emily, and Buzz, who lovingly called him “Grumps”. Danny was also a proud great-grandfather to several great-grandchildren. He is remembered fondly by his brothers, Douglas Hayes (Cathy), Timothy Hayes (Becky), and Lewis Hayes (Shelly), along with his brother-in-law, Robert Webb, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Danny was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his generosity, and his caring nature. A deeply patriotic individual, he passionately supported his country and was an ardent admirer of Donald Trump. Throughout his life, Danny enjoyed various hobbies that brought joy and camaraderie; he loved to fish, frequent the casino, and engage in weekly card games with his brothers. He also had a passion for golf and was a dedicated fan of the Buccaneers, proudly supporting his favorite football team.
One of Danny's proudest accomplishments was his sobriety; he had maintained a sober lifestyle for 31 years and played an active role in Alcoholics Anonymous, helping many find their way to recovery. This dedication to helping others is a testament to his character and a legacy that will endure within the lives he touched.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Roberta and George Hayes Jr., his sister, Lois Webb, and his brother, Bob Hayes (Ginger).
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Newcomer North Chapel, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. The funeral service will start at 4:00pm.
Danny R. Hayes will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His genuine spirit and dedication to his family, friends, and community will forever echo in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
