Danny Warren Matter was born on April 17, 1952, in Austin, Minnesota, and he left this world on October 21, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by love. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Danny embodied the qualities of warmth and kindness that touched many lives.
Danny's professional journey as an automotive mechanic spanned an impressive 45 years with Sears, where he not only honed his skills but also created lasting friendships and memories with colleagues and customers alike. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his love for life and the people in it.
An adventurous spirit, Danny possessed an associates degree in Computer Sciences, which complemented his hands-on approach to automotive work. He was a man of many interests, known for his outgoing personality and an ability to connect with anyone he met. His friends often enjoyed his humorous side, relishing his penchant for telling Chuck Norris jokes that could lighten any gathering. A proud veteran of the Air Force, he served his country with dignity and pride, a testament to his character and dedication.
Danny cherished time spent with his family, which was clear in his countless annual trips to Amana, Iowa, and memorable fishing excursions to Canada and Minnesota. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, Danny also took pleasure in indulging in delicious German food and dining at Cracker Barrel, transactions that became moments of appreciation for him and those who dined with him. His love for reading and watching "The Lord of the Rings" reflected his imaginative spirit, and he often found joy in sharing these interests with others. Danny loved listening to music from The Beatles, Moody Blues, and James Taylor, just to name a few, were melodies that wove the soundtrack of his life.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Matter, with whom he shared many joyous moments. Danny is also survived by his beloved daughters, Megan Sample and her husband Michael, and Mallory Weeks and her husband Jackson. His grandchildren, Warren, Callahan, and Caroline Weeks, brought him immeasurable joy, and he took great pride in being a grandfather. Danny is mourned by his sister, Susan Matter, and his brothers-in-law Eric Slover and wife Janet, and Kyle Slover and wife Crystal. Additionally, he leaves behind sister-in-law Julie Robinson and husband Edward, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Iris Matter, as well as his sister, Linda Smith. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and adored him.
A visitation will be held on October 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. He will be laid to rest on October 27, 2025, at Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs, Missouri, during a burial service starting at 10:00 AM.
Danny's spirit will forever resonate in the stories shared among family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to share in his life.
