Danny Lee Nelson Sr.

Danny Lee Nelson Sr., age 73, of Aurora, Illinois, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 12, 2025, at 4:43 PM, after a courageous battle with illness. He passed peacefully in his sleep.
Born on January 14, 1952, in Aurora, Danny was the beloved son of the late John and Mildred Nelson. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene and Kenneth Nelson and stepfather Kenneth Butler.
Danny is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Nelson of Aurora, and his six sons: Danny (Gina) Nelson Jr of Tyler, TX.; John (Nikki) Nelson of Minooka, IL; Phillip (Sabrina) Nelson of Plano, IL; Michael (Melissa) Nelson of Blairsville, PA; Bryan (Shay) Nelson of Aurora, IL; and Mark (Marielle) Nelson, Somonauk, IL.. He is also survived by his brother Russel (Deborah) Nelson of Ottawa, IL; sisters Diana (Bob) Alderson of Three Rivers, MI, and Pam Hapner of Somonauk, IL; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
Danny's passion for fast cars and motorcycles was surpassed only by his deep love for God and his family. He faithfully led and attended Bible study groups and cherished fellowship with his Christian Motorcyclists Association and ABATE friends. After retiring from Caterpillar Tractor following 35 years as an assembler and inspector, Danny dedicated his time to serving others. He lived out his faith by volunteering generously with many organizations, always eager to share the message of Jesus Christ.
Danny will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his boundless energy, and his joyful spirit. His legacy of love, service, and devotion to God will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Healy Chapel has the honor of hosting visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM, also at Healy Chapel, located at 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506.
