Danny Turnage Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clardy Funeral Service - Idabel on Jan. 3, 2026.
Danny Ray Turnage, age 71, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away on January 3, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on July 13, 1954, to Emmit and Jewel Turnage in Pollard, Oklahoma, he was the beloved son, brother, husband, father and Pop to many and a cherished friend to all who knew him.

Danny spent his life as an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, archery and shooting all of his life. He was an excellent marksman with many awards. He was known for his kindness, work ethic, humor and devotion to his family, and he found great joy in spending time camping and woodturning, where he was a long-time member of the Southeast Oklahoma Woodturners. Danny also enjoyed working in children's ministries, especially serving in the summer food ministries with the local churches in the Idabel area. Danny worked as a Senior Gas Technician for over 30 years with Oklahoma Natural Gas, where he had many life-long friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, of the home, as well as, his daughter, Miranda and David McKinney; son-in-law, Eddie Tate; grandsons, Trey DeForrest and wife Kayla, Jason Tate, Michael McKinney, Austin McKinney, David McKinney, III, and Danny Olen McKinney; granddaughters, Kaydance McKinney, Avery Dollar, and Raelena McKinney; sisters-in-law, Margy & Randy Tucker, Alice & Phil Woodrum, and Tami & Gary Robbins; special friends, Scooter & Rose Lewis and Rodney Dollar; and many more family and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Emmit & Jewel; brother, Larry Turnage; and daughter, Lizzy Tate.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 6, 2026, at 6 PM at the Clardy Funeral Service Chapel with family visitation following.

In lieu of flowers the family requests prayers, good vibes and any donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or Southeast Oklahoma Woodturners.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
