Darcy Yonts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bogner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Feb. 11, 2026.
Darcy Wesley Yonts Jr., age 50, of Oberlin, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at UH Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on July 17, 1975, in Lorain, Darcy spent the past 11 years in Oberlin after relocating from LaGrange, Kentucky, and previously living in Jackson, Georgia. He built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and a deep love for family and the outdoors.

Darcy was employed as a millwright at Cleveland-Cliffs for the past eight years and was a proud member of Local 979. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and eagerness to lend a hand whenever needed. Exceptionally handy and resourceful, Darcy could fix or build just about anything. He built his own home, a testament to his determination and craftsmanship, and took great pride in teaching those skills to his children. This past year, he celebrated as his oldest son followed in his footsteps by building his own home which was an accomplishment that meant the world to him.

An avid outdoorsman, Darcy had a deep love for fishing and often planned his vacations around destinations that offered new and memorable fishing experiences. He also enjoyed hunting and treasured the peace and adventure he found in nature. He took great joy in sharing his passion for the outdoors with his children, nieces, and nephews, passing along both his skills and his appreciation for the natural world. Whether on the water, in the woods, or working on a project at home, Darcy was happiest when building something with his hands or spending time with those he loved.

Darcy was an active member of Westside Baptist Church in Elyria. He generously gave of his time and talents, using his extensive landscaping and grading expertise to serve and support his church community. His faith was evident not only in his words, but in his actions and his servant's heart.

Darcy will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the skills he shared, and the love he instilled in his family.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kristi (nee Stiles); children Wesley (Hannah Toothman), Charlie (Julia Reutzel) and Gracie Lynn Yonts; parents Carolyn (nee Russo) and Darcy Yonts Sr.; siblings Lisa (Don) Brown, Jeremy (Kelly Bodnar) Yonts, Nick (Dianne) Yonts and Deanna Yonts; many nieces and nephews.
