Darin Christopher Smith, 54, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
He was born on December 6, 1971 in Clayton, Missouri.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open numerous businesses throughout his lifetime, and one of them was the establishment of his own biscuit & gravy spot.
Darin's love for games of strategy and skill found a welcome outlet in poker nights with his dad-a tradition that forged an enduring bond and provided countless memories of laughter and camaraderie.
An avid traveler, Darin sought adventure and enlightenment across St. Joseph and St. Louis very often.
Darin's religious faith guided him throughout his life, providing comfort and a source of strength that he drew upon in times of both joy and adversity.
With a love for music and movement, he danced with a joy that was infectious, even if sometimes he would look funny.
He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly (Hazeltine) and her husband Tom Higgins.
Survivors include his father Jerry (Linda) Smith, his wife of 17 years, Terry, his children Fantasia and Aiden Smith, his brother James Higgins, his sister Lori, his cousins Jeremy and Karah Smith, Pastor Bill and extended family and friends.
