POLAND – Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, for Darius Tyrone Patton, 19, of Farrell, Pa., who passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012. Darius was born in Jamison Memorial Hospital on May 16, 1993. He was a 2011 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, where he played football, earning All Ohio honors as a record setting wide receiver. He also played basketball and ran track. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also played football. Darius enjoyed writing poetry, listening to music and mentoring to young children. Darius was a member of the Church of the Rock. Darius is survived by his mother, Tinika Carter of Farrell, Pa.; father and stepmother, Shawn and Antionette Patton of Poland; sisters, Melanie Patton of Youngstown, Va-Janae Pinkston, Brooklynn Carter and Terri Gregory of Farrell, and Paige and Nomiki Willis of Poland; brothers, MelQuan and Dominic Patton of Campbell, Dorian Moton of Campbell, and Lleveje and Lavale Pinkston of Farrell; grandparents, Darlene Lawson and David Carter Sr. of New Castle, Pa. and Ramon "Tru" and Adella Dixon of Penn Hills; great-grandmothers, Leola Harrison of New Castle and Bessie Patton of Youngstown; aunts, LaTarrja Carter, Ratasha Lawson and Shaneisha Murphy of New Castle and Sherilyn Land of Landover, Md.; uncle, David (Sheila) Carter Jr. of Farrell; nephews, Jazz Patton and Ben Patton Fontanez of Youngstown and Ramel Parchman of Farrell; godmother, Leola Taylor; goddaughter, Ryan Lawson; and many other family and friends. Darius was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Joellen Patton; his grandfathers, Edward Agee and Melvin Land; and aunt, Eveliner Lockett. Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road in Poland.
