Darla Loraine Hicks (Holcomb), passed away peacefully in her home in Westwood, California, on January 17, 2026. She was 60 years old.

Born in Marysville and raised in Biggs, Darla spent her life building a legacy of service and family. For 21 years, she worked as a dedicated teacher's aid, touching the lives of countless students. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom; she was a cheerleading coach, a Girl Scout leader, and a "foster mom" to any child who needed a safe place to land. Whether it was her children's friends or those in the foster system, Darla's home was always open. She never missed a practice or a game, serving as the loudest cheerleader and the steady rock for her family.

Darla was truly the life of the party. With a laugh that was contagious and a smile that could light up the dimmest room, she lived life with a vibrant, musical soul. She was an extraordinary cook and an avid gardener who found joy in her animals and the simple pleasure of singing her heart out with the music turned up loud.

Above all, Darla was proud of the life she built and the children she raised. She will be remembered for her immense strength, her unwavering positivity, and the boundless love she gave to everyone in her path.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Darlina Holcomb, and her brother, Johnny Holcomb. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Hicks; her daughter, Emily Holcomb; her son, Mathew Holcomb; and her brothers, Kenny and Tracy Holcomb.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Darla's life on Friday March 20, 2026:

Funeral Service: 12:00 PM at Sierra View Mortuary and Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Avenue, Olivehurst, CA.

Reception: A spaghetti and salad potluck will follow at 1700 3rd Avenue, Olivehurst, CA.

CA. Those attending the potluck are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert. Please bring a folding chair if possible, as seating is limited.
