Darla Kay Minor
Darla Minor was born in Oklahoma City to West and Freelin Jones on December 26th, 1950. She died after a short illness on October 14th, 2021.
Darla was always a writer. She made most of her living for the past 35 years as a writer and especially loved non-fiction writing. She had won many writing awards over the years. Darla's work included writing about Health and Wellness, physician specialties, taxes, and articles for all types of businesses. She even worked on a few film crews and wrote a few scripts.
Darla was known as a wit and a jokester. She loved to laugh and make others laugh along with her.
She loved her boys, Kyle and Jack - both of Oklahoma City. She also loved Bruce Cornett, and would have kept him also except he already had a mother. Darla and Kyle were always connected and maintained some internal awareness of each other. Jack and Darla had a bond so thick because of how she cared for him so carefully when he was ill for so many years.
She and her husband Jim would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 23rd of this year. They had coffee together every single morning they could manage throughout their marriage. Darla said there was no 50/50 in a marriage. She said it is hard work and takes 100%/100% to make a go and sometimes even 110%/110%. She believed in commitment.
Darla is survived by her husband, James F. (Jim) Minor, sons Kyle and Jack, daughter-in-law Shanika, and granddaughters Scout and Drew. She is also survived by her sister Dee Brown, her husband Kent, nieces Tiffany and Shannon, and nephew Todd. Darla leaves behind many, many close and dear friends and relatives.
Special mention to go to Kathy Milot, Regina and Bryan Arledge, and Teresa and Matt Valliere for their support, not just now, but also over the years. The entire Milot family meant so much to Darla.
Darla's Rosary will be held at St. Damien Catholic Church, 8455 NW 234th St., Edmond, OK on Wednesday, October 20th, at 7:30pm. Her funeral is Thursday morning, October 21st, at St. Damien at 10:00am.
