Westford Funeral Home & Cremation ServiceDarlene entered the world in Seattle, WA, on August 27, 1942, to parents James and Barbara (Dolan) Welton, and left it peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Bellingham, WA.
Darlene was loved by all who knew her throughout her life. Her radiant smile, the twinkle in her eye and her amiable warmth drew people to her wherever she went. She had a natural gift of making others feel at ease and welcome. Her life was never one of privilege or ease, but she faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination.
Darlene had a creative spirit and enjoyed many interests including sewing, writing, playing piano, crafts, home decorating, and organizing social events, often in association with church, which she was actively involved in. The Meridian High School Homecoming Queen married her high school sweetheart, Richard Larson, shortly after graduation. She certainly was no stranger to change and lived in a variety of places, especially during her 20 years of marriage to Roger Bohannon while he served in the military. She even lived on a sailboat for a time while married to her beloved husband, Ray Fox, evidence of her willingness to embrace the unexpected. She found comfort and companionship towards the last chapter of life, enjoying several years of joy and laughter with her last husband, Jerry Carroll. All of them preceded her in death.
Darlene’s legacy is one of faith, kindness, resilience, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She is survived by her daughters, Kellie Williams, of Rochester, NY, grandchildren, Derek Williams, Austin Williams, and Jill Safari of Indian Shores, FL, and grandchildren, Leyla Safari, Hannah Safari and Emma Safari. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig Bohannon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at 1:11pm at the Dolan home, 2517 43rd St., Bellingham, WA 98229.
