It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Darlene (Thompson) Kellams, a loving mother, family member, and woman of quiet strength.
Darlene faced many health challenges throughout her life, yet she carried herself with resilience and perseverance that deeply impacted those around her. Through both her struggles and her love, she shaped the lives of her family in ways that will never be forgotten.
She was a woman who, in her own way, taught the importance of care, compassion, and endurance. Her journey-both the hardships and the love she gave will remain and lasting influence.
She was born on November 19, 1953 in New Albany, Indiana to Edgar Thompson and Mettie (Foster) Rhodes. Along with her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her siblings, Joyce Valentine and Roger Thompson.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Morton "Bud" Kellams, her children, Brady Kellams, Danny Kellams, Clint Kellams, Ricky Kellams, Christy Pedro, Lora Morgan (Garth); her twin sister, Arlene Rodewig, her brother, Nelson Thompson, and her grandchildren, Haley Kellams, Alexis Kellams, Hannah Kellams, Addy Kellams, Sara Chapel and Ryan Lazenby.
While her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, her life leaves a legacy that continues forward in the people she touched and the lessons she gave. We find peace in knowing she is no longer suffering.
Darlene's wish was to be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a celebration of her life taking place at 3:00 p.m.
