Darlene Evelyn “Dar” DeGarmo Kerwood, age 75, formerly of Jewett, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at Claymont Rehabilitation Center, Uhrichsville.

Born November 20, 1950, in Martins Ferry she was a daughter of the late Jim DeGarmo and Geraldine “Jerry” Milhoan DeGarmo. Darlene graduated from Jewett High School in 1969. She worked at the Scio Pottery, was a janitor at Jewett Elementary School and served many with smiles and laughs as a bartender at the former Good Times Bar in Jewett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years John Kerwood, a brother-in-law Joel Ignace and a nephew Jared DeGarmo.

Surviving is a daughter Dawn (Joel) Franco of Arizona; a son Shayne Kerwood of Scio; grandchildren Jalisha, Rashaen, Gianna and Isabellah; ten great grandchildren she adored including the apple of her eye, Sophia; siblings Wanda Ignace, Pinkie (Ronnie) Grim and Jake (Mary) DeGarmo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff and Darlene’s friends at Claymont Rehabilitation Center and Ohio’s Hospice for their friendship, compassion and care.
