Darlene Romine, 92, of Lake McConaughey, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Ogallala, Nebraska. Darlene lived life with joy, energy, and an unwavering love for her family. She married the love of her life, Harvey Romine, and together they shared 53 wonderful years. Known for her warmth, humor, and zest for life, Darlene had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and cared for. She enjoyed road trips, dining out, ice cream, and spending cherished moments with her family. She was proud of her high school years, when she was a cheerleader and a majorette, and she carried that pride and spirit throughout her life. Darlene also treasured the beauty of Lake McConaughey and the friendships she formed in the community, where she lived for more than two decades. She is survived by her children: René Weber and her husband Scott Weber of Alaska, Randy Romine and his wife Jackie Romine of Lake McConaughey, Nebraska, and Roxanne Rosencutter and her husband Dan Rosencutter of Lake McConaughey, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Donne Briggs, Trent Weber, Randee Romine, Ashlee Romine, Desiree Hyatt. Great-grandchildren: Devon Briggs, Carsyn Briggs, Caleb Weber, Landon Weber, Gavin Weber, Dawson Romine, A.J. Romine. She also leaves behind her brother, Gary Scheppke of Wisconsin, and her sister, Vicki Briggs of Arkansas. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Romine; her parents, Gordon and Daisy Scheppke; and her beloved great-grandson, Little Donne.
A memorial service to honor Darlene’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Sandhills Fellowship (The Little White Church), Lake McConaughey, Lemoyne, Nebraska. Pastor Mark Baldwin, of the United Methodist Church of Paxton Nebraska officiating.
Darlene’s vibrant spirit, her laughter, and her boundless love for her family will be deeply missed, and her memory will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of all who knew her.
