Darlette Florence Shaw

Darlette Florence Strand, age 87, died on March 17, 2026. She was born at home in rural Waseca on March 25, 1938, to John and Florence (Prechel) Leslie. She started school attending a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1956 with honors. She married Alfred Kreuger on Oct 26, 1957; they later divorced. On July 29, 1995, she married Marlyn "Merly" Strand. She worked at Herter's, Farmers National Bank, Round Bank, and retired from Truth Hardware in 2001. She enjoyed flowers, bowling, camping, gardening, playing games, and had a love for reading. She was active in Cotta Guild, Quilting and other church activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two children, Darnell (Robert) Anhorn and Lynnette (Jayson) Shaw, four step children, Jerry Strand, Melissa (Matt) Wappel, Andrew (Stacy) Strand and Alan (Julia) Strand. Daughter-in-law, Brenda Kreuger, and Brother-in-law Jim Kreuger. Six grandchildren, Kevin (Amanda) Kreuger, Kristin (Zach) Loff, Kyle (Jordyn) Kreuger, Brad Slowinski, Brayden Shaw, Jaylynn Shaw, six great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marlyn "Merly" Strand, two sisters and brother-in-laws, Laura and Roy Schultz, Ivadell "Ivy" and Roger Schwichtenberg and her son, Rick Kreuger.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Michael Grannis officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
