Born in
Durand, Michigan, on May 7, 1951, to proud parents Archie and Pearl (Cartwright) Stroub, Sr. Kip spent most of his life as a resident of Shiawassee County, where he attended Durand area schools. At the young age of 17, he made the selfless decision to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS John F. Kennedy and served with distinction, receiving honors such as the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation before his honorable discharge in March of 1971.
After his military service, Kip married his soulmate, Brenda, on June 26, 1971 at Durand Methodist Church, with whom he shared over 53 years of unwavering partnership. Together, they raised a family that was the very heart of Kip's world. He was a cherished father to Jason Stroub and Angela (Chris) Sanderson, and an adored grandfather to Cody (Erricka Laws) Stroub, Jasmine Stroub, Anna Gooding, Adam Gooding, and Gabriella Sanderson, as well as step-grandchildren Brendan and Gavin Sanderson. He also leaves behind his brother Todd (Nancy) Stroub, sisters-in-law Karen (Gary) Tolhurst and Carol Stroub, brother-in-law Mark Swogger, his best friend and pastor Randal (Joyce) Brandon, and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Kip was greeted in heaven by his late parents and brothers, Archie Stroub, Jr. and Roland Stroub.
Kip's work ethic and dedication to his community were evident through his involvement and leadership in his church at Risen Life Church of Durand. He held the esteemed position of head trustee for many years, a role he fulfilled with grace and humility. His faith was not just a belief but the very cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in every aspect of his life.
A man of many interests, Kip's greatest joy came from his grandchildren. He relished watching them grow, achieve their dreams, and become individuals of character. His generous and selfless nature was a testament to the faith-filled life he led, always putting others before himself and giving without expectation of return.
As we say goodbye to Kip, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and the joy of giving. Kip's story is one of commitment, courage, and compassion, and he will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
