He was born on May 13, 1932, in Council Bluffs, to the late Roy and Gertrude Adams. Darrell served his country in the US Army. He worked for Iowa School for the Deaf for 22 years and the Union Pacific Railroad for 18 years.
In addition to his parents, Darrell is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; 4 infant children; 2 brothers, 1 sister and 3 grandchildren.
Darrell is survived by his children, Jon Adams, Nick Adams, Jerry Adams (Sammy Elliott), Melissa Brown (Claude Jr.), Christopher Fichter (Dawn), Andrew Fichter Sr. (Michelle), Aaron Fichter (Libby Braun) and Michelle Sund; 32 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment is in the Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
