Darrell Scott Alford, a devoted family man and talented graphic designer, passed away on November 8, 2025, at Atrium Health-Main in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on March 6, 1964, in Gaston County, NC, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
Darrell dedicated an impressive 40 years of his career working at RWC Incorporated and American Forms Manufacturing, Inc., where his artistic talents as a graphic designer truly shone. His ability to blend imagination and practicality created not only stunning designs but also lasting friendships with his colleagues. It needs to be added that Darrell not only enjoyed his chosen career, but he absolutely loved his work and the pleasure it brought him. He was respected and admired in his field, but it was his family that brought him the greatest joy.
A loving husband to his beloved wife of over 35 years, Beverly Roseberry Alford, Darrell cherished every moment spent with her. Together, they built a warm home filled with love, laughter, and the sweet companionship of their three cherished cats: Angelius, Harley Quinn, and Heiress. Family was at the heart of Darrell's world; he was absolutely devoted to his children, Megan S. Alford (Harley Williamson) and Jonathan S. Alford (Angel), and he took immense pride in being a grandfather to Nathaniel P. Alford and Noah S. Alford.
Darrell's hobbies reflected his creative spirit. He found joy in designing and detailing large model cars, a passion that allowed him to express his artistic flair outside of work. Despite his creative endeavors, he often preferred the comfort of home, surrounded by his loved ones. His proudest accomplishments were never about accolades but rather the love and unity of his family, which he nurtured and cherished throughout his life.
He leaves behind his brother, Ray Alford, nieces Lakecia Nicole Alford and Danielle Renee Alford, and step-father, Randy Lang, whose lives he touched deeply. His enduring friendship with Richard Toney, a bond that started in school, always remained an invaluable part of his life.
In addition to his loving family, Darrell joins in memory his grandparents Grady and Evelyn Hester, mother Brenda Hester Lang, and his sister-in-law, Linda Alford. Together they will be remembered for the love they shared and the legacy they leave behind.
As we reflect on Darrell's life, we are reminded of his unwavering love, his creativity, and his dedication to family. He will be dearly missed, but the impact he made on those around him will be felt for years to come.
In honor of Darrell’s life, a Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM in the Chapel.
