Darrell Lee Corn "Butch", 82, Oakland City, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born on August 10, 1940, in Oakland City, Indiana to the late Homer Lee and Mildred (Street) Corn.
Butch is a graduate from Oakland City High School, class of 1958. Butch received his Bachelor's Degree from Oakland City College then received his Master's Degree from Indiana State University and Butch taught History at Southridge Middle School in Huntingburg, Indiana for 28 years.
Butch attended Trinity Methodist Church in Oakland City, Indiana. He is a member with American Legion Post # 256 and with the Moose Lodge in Petersburg.
Butch is a United States Navy Veteran. He played taps at miliary funerals. Butch was part of Corn Real Estate and was an auctioneer. He was also the Animal Control Officer. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, hunting, and fishing. Butch was a little league coach and was the Hunter Education and Driver's Education instructor for some time. Butch was the only judge Oakland City, Indiana had. He was on the city council for several years and was the current building inspector.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rena Mae (Piercy) Corn; two sons, Geoffrey (Missy) and Darren Corn (Kris); three grandchildren, Allias Corn (Amanda), Kaleb Corn (Liz), and Amanda Ramirez (Kennedy); great grandchildren, Draven Corn, Zoey Neal, Aurora, Reese, and Ryker Ramirez.
Butch is proceeded in death by his parents, Homer and Mildred Corn; siblings, Billy Jean Corn, Bobby Joe Corn, and Donna Kay Bruce.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 15, 2023, at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Pastor Mark Duncan will be officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial Contributions or donations may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
