Darrell DeVore
Oskaloosa. Darrell Lee DeVore, 73, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born March 14, 1952, in Leon, Iowa, the son of Ray and Leora Jensen DeVore. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1970. Following high school, he worked for a time at Easter's Grocery in Oskaloosa. He was united in marriage to Vicky VanDalen on June 10, 1972, in University Park, Iowa. To this union two children were born Rick and Jennifer. Darrell and Vicky later divorced. On June 28, 1986, he was united in marriage to Sandy Lamb in Beacon, Iowa. Darrell worked 44 years, 8 months, and 12 days at Vermeer in Pella. He retired from there in 2016. Darrell loved working in the shop on his Bronco and tinkering around with his CNC machine. Most of all he enjoyed being with Sandy and his family.
His family includes his wife of over 38 years Sandy DeVore of Oskaloosa; two children and their spouses, Rick and Stephanie DeVore of Moravia and Jennifer DeVore-Tomlin and Elliott Culver of Albia; four grandchildren, Katelynn, Ashlee, Tanner, and Kohl; a brother, Larry DeVore of Independence; a sister, Nancy DeVore of Oskaloosa; a brother in law, Alven Meppelink of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Meppelink; and a sister-in-law, Judy DeVore.
As was Darrell's wish his body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held at the Beacon Community Building on Saturday, May 24, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
