Darrell D. Helsley age 61 of Kentwood, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2026. He was born February 16, 1964, in Murphysboro, IL the son of Darrell and Beulah (Etherton) Helsley. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1982 – 2002, honorably retiring a Gunnery Sergeant. Darrell went on to spend the next 20 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office, serving the last 8 years as the Union President. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golfing, cruising the open seas, gaming with his sons, and spending time with his family. Darrell’s comedic personality filled rooms with laughter. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Amy (Maxwell); children, Justin (Rebecca) Helsley, Lyndsey (Kevin) Malosh, Cody Helsley, Kent (Radine) MacDonald, Amanda MacDonald; nine grandchildren; siblings, Dirrindia (Dan) Garska, David (Jeannine) Smith, Christina Mundell. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation on Sunday January 18, from 2-5 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home in Cedar Springs where a memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
