Darrell Max, born on November 25, 1948, passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2025. Darrel lived a life defined by quiet creativity, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the moments worth capturing.
Darrell worked as a drafter, contracting his skills to create detailed mechanical engineering drawings. His work reflected his precision, patience, and thoughtful approach—qualities that extended far beyond his professional life.
On May 31, 1991, Darrell married the love of his life, Debra Hyatt-Max. Together they shared a devoted marriage and raised three children, building a home filled with learning, laughter, and love.
Darrell was most often found behind the camera, documenting life through photography rather than stepping into the frame himself. He enjoyed losing himself in a good book, turning up his loud stereo to classic rock and roll, and spending time playing card games—especially cribbage and 500—which he loved for both the challenge and the camaraderie they brought.
Darrell will be remembered for his steady presence, sharp mind, and the way he quietly noticed the details others might overlook.
A service to honor Darrell’s life will be held on January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd, Minnesota, with a luncheon to follow.
