Darrell McClaskey, 85, a devout Christian from Grand Junction, CO, returned to God on December 22, 2025.
He was born in Bent County, Colorado in 1940 to Otto and Emma McClaskey, and grew up with 8 brothers and sisters.
Darrell worked at Corn Construction for 20 years and Mays Construction for 16+ years as superintendent. His last venture with Mays Construction was in Yellowstone National Park where he worked for almost a year.
Darrell was a devoted Christian who cherished his Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was saved at the church in New Castle, CO at the approximate age of 11. He attended Emmanual Baptist Church of Grand Junction, CO and took comfort in knowing the Lord was watching over him and his family.
His Christian values informed every aspect of his life and molded him into the beloved person he was. Darrell also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors in general along with family get together and his beloved wife, Joan.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, wife and mother of his children, Marilyn, son, Dane McClaskey, two sisters, Norma (Lloyd) Steele and Nancy (David) Bertrand and one brother, Orville McClaskey and is survived by his wife, Joan McClaskey, son Stuart (Dora) McClaskey, daughter Lisa (Pat) Roybal, son Howard (Michelle) McClaskey, 3 brothers, Don (Ruth) McClaskey, Doug (Shirley) McClaskey, Jerry (Diane) McClaskey and two sisters, Deanna (Larry) Noel and Bonnie Southerland. Darrell is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A memorial service is scheduled at Emmanual Baptist Church, at 395 31 5/8 Road, Grand Junction, CO on Friday, January 9, at 10am. Lunch will be provided by the church.
