Johnson Funeral Home - SalemDarrell Edward Michel, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026.
Darrell was born on February 22, 1940, in Nampa, Idaho, and lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and service to others. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Lue Michel, whom he met while attending Gem State Adventist Academy. Together they built a strong and loving family and shared many years of devotion and partnership.
He was a devoted and proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Michel, a brother and sister, a half-brother a half-sister and his son Tarry. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lue Michel; his daughters, Debi, Trina, and Laura; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Darrell began his career as a tile setter and later transitioned into construction, where his strong work ethic and craftsmanship were evident in all he did. He spent his final working years with Colson and Colson, traveling throughout the United States and Australia. One of his greatest sources of pride was assisting in the construction of Livingstone Adventist Academy, a project that reflected both his skill and his commitment to faith-based education.
A devoted Seventh-Day Adventist, Darrell lived his life through service, generosity, and a genuine love for helping others. He was known for his willingness to lend a hand, offer support, and quietly care for those around him. A memorial service will be held at East Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5575 Fruitland Rd NE, Salem OR 97317, Saturday, April 18, at 4:00 p.m.
Darrell will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his faith, kindness, and the lasting legacy he leaves with his family and all who knew him.
