SFC Darrell Wayne Olds, Sr., aka Oscar aka D.O., was born February 4, 1960, in Graceville, FL to Lenora Cotton Olds and the late Willie Lee Olds. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, he transitioned to his Heavenly home at the age of 64.
Darrell joined New Bethel CME Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He served the ministry faithfully across many spectrums over several years. You could find him on any given day at the church cleaning up, mowing the lawn, or singing in the choir. If he wasn't at the church, he was on a porch fellowshipping with family and friends, farming the field, DJ'ing, cheering on his beloved Florida State Seminoles and Washington Redskins, or with the Campbellton Men's Club.
After serving our country for twenty years, Darrell retired from the United States Army in 1998. He served several tours during his tenure. He then went on to work at Michelin in Dothan, AL for 13 years before retiring one last time in 2013. After retiring, he dedicated his life to serving both his family and his community which included being a dedicated staff member at McKinnie Funeral Home. Campbellton will never be the same, and his presence and bright smile will be missed. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Alneta Yvonne Britt Olds on April 14, 1990.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee Olds, and siblings, Jeffrey Todd Olds and Rebecca Ann Olds.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 34 years, Yvonne Olds three children: Candis Williams, Jessica Olds, and Darrell (Sabrina) Olds, Jr. four Grandchildren: Kyron Hall, Ariel Olds, Kylee Hall, and Asher Broxton, his mother, Lenora Olds. five Siblings: Douglas Cotton, Sherry (Gregory) Weatherington, Tammy Billups, Willie (Tanya) Olds, and Henry Olds; five sisters in-laws: Valerie Smith, Brenda Britt, Patrica A. Britt, Tami Wiggins (Richard) and Melvin Ann Walker (Nathan); nine brothers in-law: Emily Britt Jr. (Peggy), Gregory M. Britt (Rhonda), Edward Lee Britt, Henry L. Britt, Reginald B.
