Darrell Pointer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Apr. 21, 2024.
Darrell Dewayne "DD" Pointer 74, a resident of Richmond, passed away at his home on Friday, April 19, 2024, after a long illness.
DD was born on February 14, 1950, in Excelsior Springs to Clarence "CD" and Norma (Clevenger) Pointer. He married Linda Elkins of Richmond on May 4, 1973, she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Courtney (Michael) Webster of Platte City and Leann (David) Cook of Lake St. Louis; sister, Debbie Walters of Richmond; four grandchildren, Abigail Cook, Tyler Cook, Avery Webster, and Wyatt Webster.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
DD loved playing the game of golf, introducing it to his daughters. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was their biggest fan. He had a passion for classic cars and entered car shows. DD and Linda spent time traveling. Hawaii, Florida, and Alaska being some of his favorites. He enjoyed time at the lake relaxing and golfing. He and his sister overcame adversity by leaning on and supporting each other. He taught himself to work using his hands, becoming a successful builder and businessman. He was proud to be a member of the Masonic Lodge. We found humor in him carrying a flip phone and his endless pranks. He was loyal, he loved deeply, he fought hard, sacrificed much, he stood tall, he was perfectly imperfect. His family will treasure the memories made, laughs shared, and love he felt for each of them. He was a believer in God.
"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." – Isaiah 41:10
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Finish Strong Foundation (www.finishstrongfoundation.com). This is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that supports young competitive athletes so they can continue playing the sports they love when their families are struggling financially specifically because of illness, injury, death, or other unexpected traumatic event. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
