Darrell Sheik, age 67, of Ivanhoe, MN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 3rd at Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church in Ivanhoe, MN. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, September 2nd at the Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church in Ivanhoe with a prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Ivanhoe City Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Darrell Elliote Sheik was born on January 3, 1958, to Alvin and Arvilla (Bren) Sik at the Hendricks Hospital. He was the youngest of ten children, Darrell grew up in a lively and loving household. He graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1976 and continued his education at Ridgewater College in Willmar.

On June 14, 1980, Darrell married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Nielsen. Together they raised two children, Stacy and Kyle. After living in Marshall for several years, they settled into Darrell's dream home in Ivanhoe in 1990, where they made countless memories.

Darrell worked for Lake Beverage for 25 years, known fondly by many as the "Beer Man." He later joined Twin City Fan in Elkton, South Dakota, where he worked until retiring in 2023.

Darrell and Brenda shared 32 years of marriage before her passing after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Their years together were filled with camping trips, lake days, card games (especially UNO), and cherished time with their close group of 4-wheeling friends. After becoming empty nesters, evenings at home were often spent playing cards and enjoying each other's company.

Darrell had a huge heart and was most proud of his family-especially his five grandchildren. He rarely missed a sporting event, and holidays, especially Christmas, were his favorite time of year. He took great joy in cooking lobster and steak dinners, watching his grandkids open gifts, and hearing the house filled with laughter.

In retirement, when his health allowed, Darrell could often be found playing Buck Euchre with friends at local establishments. He may or may not have been accused of cheating from time to time-something his late wife lovingly teased him about, often saying, "You cheating son of a b****."

Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Stacy (Josh) Kiley of Ivanhoe and their children Addysen, Ashyr, and Aubren; Kyle (Gina) Sheik of Sioux Falls and their sons Nolan and Leo. He is also survived by siblings: Sharon (Jerry) Sunvold of Renville, Al (Colleen) Sheik of Ivanhoe, Ron Sheik (special friend Pat) of Ivanhoe, Chuck (Pat) Sheik of Omaha, Charlene (Roger) Bottelberghe of Brookings, Milan (Shirley) Sik of Brookings, Janet Blegen (special friend Tom) of Minneota, and Jeanette Hulzebos of Taunton; in-laws: Bruce and Barb Nielsen of Tyler, Bryce and Pat Nielsen of Ivanhoe, Benita and Mike Steffes of Wahoo, and Ben and Patti Nielsen of Ivanhoe; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda of 32 years; his parents, Alvin and Arvilla Sik; his brother Alvin Jr.; in-laws Darwin "Buzz" and Mavis Nielsen; sister-in-law Lucy Sheik; and many aunts and uncles.

Darrell will be remembered for his smile, his warmth, and the love he poured into his family. His grandchildren were truly the light of his life, and his legacy will live on through them.
