I remember Coach Snyder well and have thought of him often over the years. I worked with him for four summers when I was a lifeguard and swim instructor at Flint Hill Day Camp - he was responsible for the pool operation and was a wonderful mentor, coach, teacher and friend. He was an understanding and sympathetic voice, always encouraging and never judging. He and Barbara were fixtures at the school for many years, and I remember how happy they were at the birth of their son. Flint Hill lost a fine man when Coach left to go to Bishop O´Connell
Coach was also a favorite of my brother, Tom, who played football under Coach for several years at Flint Hill. Tom was dying of leukemia eleven years ago and was very comforted at that time from receiving a call from Coach Snyder. Because of who he was and what he meant to each of us, Coach will live on in our hearts. God Bless Coach Snyder and his family.

I really loved that guy. He was a great coach and a good man. I played football, basketball, and one year of baseball with him as the coach. When I was with Arlington police, I would cross paths with him numerous times in the morning when he was walking to O´Connell. It was always nice to stop and talk with him. He´ll definitely be missed.

This is sad news. I knew him in his earlier years at Flint Hill. He coached me in three sports for four years. Gary Niklason and I were his football captains. Those are such important formulative years. Being a good teammate, a hard worker and setting an example are important traits learned from him. I have thought of him many times. During his career, he touched many people in a very positive way. I became a better person thanks to him. Thank you, Coach. Rest in peace. Craig R Martin MD

Everyone at O'Connell was fond of Darrell. He was well respected and a good man to have in your corner. My late husband worked as an English teacher for 37 years and we enjoyed spending time with him at school functions. May he rest with the Father now.

God bless you Coach; taught us how we should live our lives from sidelines, dugouts, track ovals and of course from the blackboard!
Prayers go out to the Snyder family. Be comforted in your grief with the certain knowledge that Coach made a difference in all our lives!
