Darren P. Bredesen
Age 59, late of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio, with his family by his side, after a five-year-long, hard-fought battle with AML cancer. Born August 3, 1966, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, Darren was the son of Paul Bredesen and Marlene Golat. He completed his bachelor's degree in Communication at Northern Illinois University. To provide for his family, Darren worked hard throughout his life, primarily as a truck driver with companies such as Thorntons and Cece Trucking. A man of deep faith, Darren was born again in Jesus Christ and loved God with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength as commanded in Mark 12:30. His faith guided every part of his life, and he shared the good news and prayed for others whenever he had the opportunity. The best way to describe Darren is as a man who truly loved his family and friends. He dedicated his life to raising his children and to being a good family member and friend, especially in his lifelong bond with the Hibner family. He lived with sincerity, firm in his beliefs, unafraid to engage in a friendly debate over coffee, but also with warmth that radiated through his kindness and humor. Whether he was enjoying classic rock like Rush, singing karaoke on a Saturday night, or watching a favorite film like The Blues Brothers, Darren was a man of many interests. He also had a great appreciation for nature and loved spending time outdoors, with some of his favorite moments being his tours of the national parks across the western United States-- such as Badlands, Yellowstone, and Mt. Rushmore-- in the early 2000s, as well as a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon in 2024. He is survived by his daughters Corrina Belle Bredesen (Tyler Strickland) of Cambridge, OH., Allysha Nicole (Mike) Simpson of Suffolk, VA., and his former wife and mother of his children, Rheta (Joe) Pucci of Chicago. His brother Shawn (Deb) Bredesen of Plainfield, with his family, Kirsten (Joe) Patty, Sarah Bredesen, and Ryan Bredesen. His Uncle and Aunt, Dan and Christa Bredesen of Lockport. Proud Grandfather to Samuel Keith and Gabriel Paul Simpson, born August 23, 2025. Funeral services for Darren will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. For additional information please call (815) 744-0022 or visit
