Darren Lee Hyde was born March 15, 1968 in St. Louis, MO to Darrell and Rose Hyde. His home growing up was Campbell, a small town in the Bootheel of Missouri, but his current residence was a beautiful home and property in Chestnutridge, MO where he lived with his wife, Rebecca and son, Jacob. Darren departed this earthly life on October 30, 2024 with his wife, daughter, and son by his side.
Darren worked for many years as a machinist and then in maintenance at Holloway America in Springfield, MO where he made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed the outdoors and was always working to improve his place. He wanted it perfect for his family. He and his wife enjoyed visiting casinos, taking beach trips and cruises, and traveling to Talladega to enjoy the races. Darren loved fishing and hunting and was always looking for those big bucks on his property. He loved to cook and was known to grill a mean pork steak.
Mostly, Darren loved being around family, especially his grandsons who affectionately called him PopPop. He will be remembered as a kind man who was quick to laugh and ready with a funny story. He was always willing to help a friend, and he let his family members know they could call on him any time and he would have their back. He often reminded his nieces and nephews to "be good."
Darren is survived by his wife, Rebecca; daughter Elizabeth and husband Derek Kern of Sparta; son Jacob Hyde; three grandsons, Wyatt Kern, Levi Kern, and Weston Kern; two sisters, Denise (Ronnie) Hatch of Springfield, MO and Laura (Chris) Belcher of Malden, MO and a brother, Mitch (Lisa) Hyde of Springfield, MO, and his Aunt Phyllis Pipkin of Springfield, MO. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him and often looked to him for help or advice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Rose Hyde of Campbell, MO. A memorial service will be held at Greenlawn East in Springfield, MO at 1:00 in the afternoon on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
He will be greatly missed as he was such an important piece of the family. His spirit will live on through those who love him.
