New Hope Funeral Home - SunnyvaleDarren Runnels, age 66, of Forney, Texas, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Darren was a devoted husband, father, Popaw and friend whose gentle spirit and steady faith touched everyone who knew him. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, attending live concerts, and was an avid outdoorsman. He found great joy in God's creation - especially when he was fishing, hunting, or spending time at the deer lease with his family and friends. Those moments in nature were where he felt closest to the Lord and most at peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Carleen Runnels. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda; his daughters, Tracy and Tricia; and his cherished grandchildren, McKenna, Jacob, and Carlee. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna, Aunt Judy, his beloved hunting buddies, and the many family members who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Darren's life will be held Saturday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Forney - 1003 College St., Forney, TX 75126.
The family invites everyone to honor Darren's memory by wearing one of his favorite colors - blue or camo - as we gather to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to so many.
