Darryl's spiritual journey was deeply personal and ever-evolving. Raised Baptist, he later converted to Islam before ultimately embracing a broader faith rooted in a wholehearted belief in God as his one true savior. His spiritual convictions were sincere and steadfast. A proud Mason as well, Darryl carried himself with integrity and purpose throughout all aspects of life.
He leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory: seven daughters-Breia Gibson, India Gibson, Genifer Gibson, Angellena Gibson, Christina Thurmond, Shuantaye Thurmond, and Laykeia Thurmond; one son-Darryl Gibson Jr.; his mother-Jovilla Gibson; his wife-Elizabeth Gibson; two brothers-Shawn Gibson (wife Alicia) and John Gibson (wife Janice); and his father-John Wayne Gibson. His nephews Amir Young, Jawaun Young and Jayden Gibson.
Darryl was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Gibson.
Those who knew Darryl remember him for his humor, light-hearted spirit, and pure heart filled with good intentions. He worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for those he loved most-his children and wives-and did so with unwavering devotion until he could no longer.
