Darryl "Rusty" Hambrick
Rusty Hambrick went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2026, after a time of declining health.
He was born on June 30, 1961, to his father, Melvin Daryl 'Lefty' Hambrick and mother, Dorris Hambrick and was partly raised by his grandmother, Margie Roberts Hambrick.
He was a surveyor for 30+ years working beside a life-long best friend, Danny Parris of Sylva. He was known for his great skills as a third baseman and coaching skills and his great love for the game of baseball. He was a die hard Rusty Wallace fan of NASCAR Racing. He learned to play the guitar at a very young age, learning by ear and truly loved to sing and play for anyone who wanted to listen. He shared this passion with a second life long friend, Tim Parris of Sylva.
Rusty was blessed with a big family and is survived by his four brothers, Robbie Hambrick and wife, Mellissa, younger brother, Marty Hambrick and wife, all of Albemarle, Tony Cabe, and Chris Seago of Sylva; three children son, Craig Hambrick, daughter, Laura Hambrick Bentivogli and husband Trent, and youngest son, Logan Corey Hambrick all of Sylva; four grandchildren who he loved with all his heart, Eli Franks, younger brother, Jayce Franks, granddaughter, Rylee Bentivogli, and newest grandchild, Samuel Hambrick.
He was preceded in death by his loving father and grandmother and sisters, Kelly Hambrick and Angela H. Moore; brother, Randy Hambrick, and uncle, John Stanley Hambrick Sr.
Rusty had a big smile always on his face and enjoyed making all who knew him laugh. The number 27 will always remind his loved ones of him.
A celebration of life will be held in May at the Lighthouse Church in Dillsboro N.C. Date and time will be updated at a later date when everything with the family has been finalized.
Rusty will be missed dearly but never forgotten. It's never goodbye just until we meet again.
