Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Jun. 13, 2025.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 12:26am, Darryl Boyd Rowton, age 67, without a walker, wheelchair, tubes, needles, oxygen, or braces, with his head once again held straight up to the sky, ran into the arms of his Lord and Savior to spend eternity with Him, finally pain-free and whole with a perfect body. He was born on June 19, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Lloyd Lee & Barbara Ann (Northcutt) Rowton. He passed from this life 8 days shy of his earthly birthday. Darryl left this world with family by his side, and an unexplainable peace that came over his face, as Dustin, literally prayed his dad into Heaven.
Darryl graduated from Del City High School, Class of 1975. During his high school days, he represented his school as a member of the Del Aires, as well as playing baseball and wrestling. Darryl also attended Oklahoma Baptist University as well as Rose State College.
It was during the end of his junior year in high school that he met his future bride and the love of his life, Connie La Jeanne Weaver. They dated 3 ½ years and then married on August 26, 1977, in Del City, Oklahoma. They were inseparable up until the day he left this earth. During their marriage they endured numerous trials and hardships, but with their faith in Christ and steadfast love for each other, they became even closer to each other and their love grew even stronger.
From this loving relationship, God blessed them with a beautiful son, Dustin Gabriel Rowton. He was their only child, born 2 months prematurely with numerous complications. Dustin almost didn't make it, but with fervent prayers and undying love, their baby boy was discharged from the NICU on Darryl and Connie's 4th wedding anniversary.
Darryl worked for Dell Computers as a sales representative for 16 years. He loved his job and was very well respected by his employer, co-workers, and clients.
His relationship with God was of utmost importance. Darryl received Christ as his Savior at a young age. He never passed up a chance to share his testimony for Christ and the promises of the Gospel. Darryl was never ashamed of witnessing to people and leading them to the Lord. In addition, he served on a prison ministry team that traveled to Wisconsin to share Christ with inmates.
He loved music and played the bass guitar for youth groups and with the family band, "The Weavers and Family." Darryl was an avid OU Football and girls' softball fan, as well as the OKC Thunder. Playing golf and hunting were a couple of Darryl's hobbies that he enjoyed, but his all-favorite sport was fishing, or as he referred to it "rippin' lips" or fishing for the big ones. He was very athletic and there was nothing he wouldn't try.
Darryl was a very active man, involved in much. He was a hard worker and loved and cared for his family. In September of 2020, Darryl was hospitalized for COVID. He was stricken with all sorts of life-long complications that robbed him of his normal everyday life as a man. He was literally a modern-day miracle. When he was finally released from the hospital, he was able to come home and Connie, his "Baby Doll" as he lovingly referred to her as, was his constant caregiver.
Even though he was in constant pain, dealing with disabilities, inabilities and more, Darryl NEVER complained, and his faith was unwavering. Darryl was a member of Choctaw Road Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and operated the camera on the tech team. A fellow church member stated that the word that came to their mind when thinking of Darryl was "enduring." This couldn't be more accurate. When he was able to start going back to church, it was truly a day of rejoicing.
The most important things in his life, were of course, Jesus, and his family, Connie, Dustin, Natalie, and his pride and joy, McKinley, Payson, and Sawyer, who called him "Doo Dad!" He wore that title proudly. He not only was involved in Dustin's activities while he was growing up, but also the grandkids and their activities. Darryl was a family-man and loved spending time with them as well as extended family on both sides.
He touched the lives of countless people and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darryl leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved and loving wife of almost 48 years, Connie Rowton; his son and best friend, Dustin Rowton & wife, Natalie; granddaughter, McKinley Grace; grandsons, Payson Gabriel and Sawyer Isaiah, all of Midwest City; brother, Douglas "Buz" Rowton & wife, Linda; sisters, Diane Manowski, Dana Rowton, and Patricia Rowton Morgan; sisters-in-law, Becky Rowton and Karen Weaver-Buckley; brother-in-law, MSgt. Wm Keith Weaver (USAF Ret) & wife, Paula; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as many greats, and many more loving family members, church family and friends.
He is reunited in his eternal home with his parents, Lloyd & Barbara Rowton; his twin-brother, Danny Lloyd "Bopper" Rowton; sisters, Sherron Rowton, Janice Loudermilk and Thelma Maynard; brother, Bill Rowton; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Del & Kathy Weaver.
