Daryl Gene Freeman

Daryl Gene Freeman, 62, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday morning, January 24, 2026, after a sudden illness. He was born in Lake Butler on September 23, 1963 and has made Lake City his home most of his life. He worked of over 44 years with Nutrien & served as the Nutrien Union President; and he was known as a "man's man" kind of guy. He enjoyed hanging out in his shop with his dog, going to the river, boating and jet skiing. He also enjoyed piddling around in his yard and coaching youth football; but most of all, he enjoyed time with his grandkids. He is preceded in death by his step-son, Austin Burnham.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 24 years, Jackie Johns Freeman of Lake City; mother and father, Shirley and Earl Dilger of South Carolina; son, Daryl "D.J." Freeman, Jr. (Jamee) of Lake City; daughter, Ashley Freeman of Lake City; and his sister, Cindy Gratton of South Carolina. Four grandchildren, Dallas and Sofia Freeman & Gavin and Logan Fenter also survive.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Freeman will be conducted on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at Christ Central with Pastor Lonnie Johns and Pastor Seth Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 5:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
