Hello, folks. This is Daryl Alphary Thompson, but you all probably remember me as "T-Bone" or "Uncle Bones." From my birthplace of Atlanta, GA, on January 23, 1972, to my final home in Gloucester City, New Jersey, I lived a life filled with adventure and the joy of being surrounded by loved ones. I pursued my passions fervently, whether it was my work as a longshoreman at Holt's LLC, my time in the United States Navy aboard the USS Princeton, or my love for games like dominoes and scrabble. My life was a testament to the verse from the Healing Wings Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17)
I was always one for a good barbecue, and nothing brought me more joy than the sound of laughter and the smell of grilled food. I loved bowling, took pride in being an AEGIS Weapon System (FCS) Track Instructor, and enjoyed the thrill of the occasional swim. I was a member of the Teamsters Union and an alumnus of Miami Norland Senior High School, Tidewater Community College, and Old Dominion University. My charisma was infectious, and I hope I've left an impression of generosity and supportiveness on all those who've crossed my path.
I am eternally grateful for the love and support of my family and friends. Darrell, Omari, and Nia, my wonderful children, you were my greatest joy. Tamanika, my partner, your love was a guiding light. Daneese, my mother, Laura, my aunt, and Arthur, my step-father, thank you for your unwavering guidance and love. To my siblings and step-siblings, Aran, Arthur, and Monte, we've created memories that will last a lifetime. And to those who've gone before me, my father Alphary, my Aunt Kavetta, my Uncle Calvin, and my grandfather Calvin Sr., I look forward to seeing you all again. To all my nieces, nephews, cousins, shipmates and friends "You Know!"
Please join my family and friends for a viewing on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 9:00 am at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 351 High Street, Westville, New Jersey, 08093. The homegoing service will follow at 10:30 am at the same location.
I encourage you all to leave memories and upload photos to my memorial page. It would mean a lot to have you share the moments we've spent together and the laughter we've shared. Remember, "Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced." Keep living, keep loving, and keep being adventurous. Until we meet again.
