Dave Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chism Family Funeral Home - Vine Grove on Mar. 10, 2026.
SFC (Ret.) Robert "Dave" Jerrell Davis departed this life on March 6th, 2026.

He was born in Perry, Florida, on January 5th, 1947, and was the 2nd oldest of 4 children. He spent the second half of his childhood in College Park, Georgia, attending College Park High School. In 1965 he joined the U. S. Army, where he served for 20 years as a Tanker. During his time in the Army, he served in the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm for heroic acts in the war, and in the Cold War, with repeated tours of duty on the Inner-German border. Among his accolades, of note, he was a member of the Order of the Silver Spur of the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment of the Blackhorse Regiment and was a Master Gunner. Following his retirement from the U. S. Army in 1985, he began his Department of the Army Civilian career with the Armor School, spanning 28 years, and ending when he retired again in 2013. He was also made a Kentucky Colonel. His free time was often spent with his family and friends, and he enjoyed attending reunions and meetings with his Army family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mylba Goss Davis, their daughter Morgen Logsdon and son-in-law Joshua Logsdon, their granddaughter Alexandria Lamson, all of Elizabethtown, his sister Marie Morris of Fairburn, Georgia, and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jesse James Davis, mother Mildred (Nobles) Drinnon, sister Edith Dean Saye, and brother William "Bo" Harold Davis.

A committal service with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.

Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be made to the Gary Sinese Foundation or the Blackhorse Association to support his fellow service members.
