Dave Johnson Harman, Jr. 94, of Princeton passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Born September 15, 1931 in Princeton he was the son of the late Dave Johnson Harmon, Sr. and Letha Elizabeth Hall Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Harmon and Marvin Harmon; four sisters, Katie Ruth Harmon, Edith Harmon, Etta Meadows, and Eva Farley.
Dave retired from the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He served his country faithfully for 21 years before settling down in Princeton and becoming the First Paramedic in Mercer County. He served nearly a decade for OH9. He attended Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Ruth Harman of Princeton; son, Tommy Harman of Princeton; daughters, Connie Catron and husband Daniel of Concord, NC, Lisa Slemp and husband Jamie of North Tazewell, VA, and Jessica Wichter and husband Michael of Aledo, TX; seven grandchildren, Alexx Harman, Zachary Harman, Margo Harman, Daniel Catron, Kayla Burton and husband Stephen, Tyler Bourne, and Sarah Banks; and four great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Dave’s wishes he will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton with Jim Simmons officiating. The United States Navy Honor Guards will perform Military Rites. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 AM on Tuesday.
