Dave Todd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Inc. - Columbus on Jan. 12, 2026.
Charles David Todd, known affectionately to all as Dave, embarked on his final adventure, leaving a trail of laughter and cherished memories, on January 11, 2026. Born on April 10, 1938, in the quaint town of Heltonville, Indiana, to parents Grotie and Lillie Fern Helton Todd.

He carried the spirit of his hometown with him as he ventured out, eventually settling in Columbus, Indiana, where he would spend his final years surrounded by the family he loved.

A proud retiree of Cummins, Dave's career also saw him sharing his talents by being employed at Pall Aerospace and Ford Motor Company. A hard-working man that clearly provided for his family.

In Dave's leisure time he enjoyed hunting rabbit, squirrel and fishing. An ardent IU fan, Dave bled cream and crimson, cheering on his team with his favorite coach, Bobby Knight.

Dave's home was a haven of fun and laughter when raising his children. They have many wonderful memories of Dad teaching them to dance to tunes such as Chuck Berry's TWIST. Dave's entertainment for his kids didn't stop there. He had a great Yogi Bear impression that everyone loved and this particular memory will be shared with the generations to come.

In his later years, Dave liked watching many westerns on GRIT TV. He was proud to be a local regular at the McDonald's breakfast club.

We will all miss the precious man, father, grandfather and neighbor. The world was a better place because of Dave.

Dave is survived by his loving children, Brian Todd, Tina (Dennis) Everitt, Gina (Jeff) Everitt, and Kelly Lane; a sister, Brenda (Larry) Norman, grandchildren, David (Jessica) Everitt, Melanie (Brian) Nicely, Jamey (Jessica) Jewell, Chad (Meri) Phillips, Kerri Strange, Dillon Lane, Bailey Todd and Skyley Mosier; 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jerry Lee; his parents, 5 brothers and 5 sisters, and a son, Robin Everitt.

Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's hospital through the funeral home.

A time of gathering will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, January 16th, 2026 at Jewell Rittman Funeral Service and Cremation.
