MARION - Davette Lee, 85, of Marion passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Deaconess Gateway Hospital of Newburgh, Indiana.
She was born on April 17, 1939, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph Wesley and Juanita (Harris) Craw.
She attended school in Albany, Indiana, and was a graduate of Albany High School Class of 1957. She continued her education attending at Olivet Nazarene University of Bourbonnais, where she received her bachelor's degree in Education.
She began her long working career in education as a high school English teacher at several different schools, including New Haven High School of New Haven, Indiana, Rantoul High School, Urbana High School, Putnam City High School of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Marion High School for 13 years until her retirement in 1999.
She was united in marriage to Paul W. Lee Jr. on June 15, 1963, in Urbana, and together they have shared over 61 years of marriage.
She served faithfully as a "pastor's wife" actively involved in Marion First Church of the Nazarene, where her husband Paul served for 26 years. She also served as a church pianist, youth leader, ladies fellowship leader, Sunday school teacher and other positions during his tenure.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing the piano, working in the church, doing crafts of all kinds, cooking and always enjoyed having family and friends over for Sunday dinner.
She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Lee, Jr. of Marion; two sons, Mark D. Lee and Matt D. Lee and his wife, Jennifer all of Marion; grandson, Justus A. Lee of Marion; two sisters, Diane Kronz and husband, Wayne of Pheonix, Arizona, and Carla Hickey and husband, Barry of Muncie, Indiana; sister-in-law, Marge Wooden of Mount Vernon; other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion.
The visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at the funeral home.
The visitation will resume 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Marion First Church of the Nazarene, located at 809 West White Street, Marion.
Following the time of visitation, the memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. with Dr. Woody Webb and Bobby Parker presiding.
Inurnment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery of Marion.
For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to "Marion First Church of the Nazarene." Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
