David G. Adams, Sr., 92, of Copenhagen, passed away January 14, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Adams was born January 29, 1933, in Watertown, son of Raymond and Helaine Bisonett Adams. He graduated in 1950 from Watertown High School. On February 4, 1957, he married Anna S. Surace in Pamelia, NY.
Mr. Adams proudly served his country. He began in the National Guard, working at the old Fort Drum at age 17, then enlisted in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. His duties included working in the TB Ward at St. Albans, Long Island; independent duty on San Salvador Island; and service aboard the USS Des Moines. He also served during the Korean War.
He was employed with Hall's Ski Lift and NY Airbrake, and retired after 25 years of service from Frink Snowplow in
Clayton, NY.
Dad enjoyed his "coffee," warm-weather activities-especially swimming and being outdoors. He was an avid follower of the New York Yankees and loved watching Tiger Woods play golf. He loved to tinker, especially repairing bicycles for kids, and as an auto mechanic, he was always trying to keep everything maintained. He enjoyed long rides, getting ice cream cones, or enjoying a strawberry milkshake.
Surviving are a son, David Adams, Jr. (Shelley),
Annandale, NJ; two daughters, Cathy Adams, Copenhagen, and Susan (Kevin) Richardson, Watertown; a sister-in-law, Joyce Surace, Watertown; seven grandchildren: Lindsay (Keith) LaPointe, Matthew (Ashley) Adams, Morgan Adams (companion Chris Reitz), Michael (Samantha) Adams, Kevin (Teresa) Richardson, Karla (Junior) Stefanini, Kurt (Amber) Richardson; six great-grandchildren: Ella & Brynn, Aston & Ari, Aurora & Emmeline; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna S. Adams, in 2016; a son, Steven M. Adams, in 1990; two brothers, Art (Raymond) and Wes; and a sister, Marion-all of whom died before him.
There will be no services, but a celebration of life is planned in warmer weather at the site where he worked in Clayton, which is now the Harbor Hotel. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff from the Emergency Room, PCU, 4 Pavilion, and Palliative Care for their compassionate care and support during his final days. Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.
Contributions may be made to St. James Church, 327 West Street, Carthage, NY 13619. Condolences may be made online at www.dlcalarco.com.
