David Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Mason Funeral Home - Riverside on Mar. 17, 2026.
David E. Adams 83, of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, after a long illness. David was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Phyllis (Matthews) Adams. He was a devoted husband to his wife Carole (Singleton) Adams of Warwick, proud father of son Glen Adams and his wife Kristina of Portland, OR; daughter Pamela Adams Sharpe and her husband Christopher of Hingham, MA; and stepson William Singleton and his wife Karen of Coventry. He is also survived by brothers Jon Adams of Cranston and Dale Adams of North Waterboro, ME, and beloved grandchildren Ashe, Owen and Graham Sharpe and Sydney and William Singleton.

David was born in Providence and was raised in Riverside. He moved to Warwick in 1973, where he would reside until his passing. After graduating from East Providence High School in 1961, he entered the United States Air Force. Stationed in England and Japan, he served as a Communications Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1965. Shortly thereafter, David followed in his father's footsteps to become a tool and die maker in the jewelry industry. He worked as an apprentice at the Pilling Chain Company in Barrington before joining B.A. Ballou Inc. in East Providence, working alongside his father, Ralph. He worked at several companies in the industry, including Kienhoffer and Moog Inc. in Lincoln and Swarovski in Cranston before retiring in 2009.

Underneath his reserved exterior, David was a kind and generous man, a great neighbor and friend who was always willing to help those in need. He was dedicated to his family and loved holiday gatherings and visits from his grandchildren. Throughout his life, his interests included swimming at McDermott Pool, bowling with his wife Carole at Meadowbrook Lanes and playing Hi Lo Jack weekly at the Pilgrim Senior Center. He was a talented carpenter and took pride in keeping his home and yard in impeccable shape. After a long, hard day of work, he enjoyed a cold beer or glass of wine, and most of all, a bowl of strawberry ice cream. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.

Private services will be held at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Foundation, RI Chapter https://www.apdaparkinson.org/community/rhode-island/ or the Pilgrim Senior Center, https://www.warwickri.gov/senior-services-pilgrim-senior-center 401-468-4070.
