David Cal Amen

David Cal Amen, 75, of Rupert, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on May 8, 1950, in Burley, Idaho, to Cal and Della (Winters) Amen. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood and grew into a young man known for his strong work ethic and deep devotion to those he loved. After graduating from high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army. Later in life, he spent 25 dedicated years working for Simplot in Heyburn until the plant's closure.

In 1986, David met the love of his life and best friend, Betty (Martinez). They married and spent 39 remarkable years together, building a life filled with unwavering love, friendship, and partnership. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose steady presence, thoughtful advice, and open-hearted support were gifts to his family and to anyone who needed him. His warm, gentle spirit and infectious smile will be deeply missed.

David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid fisherman, he rarely returned home empty-handed. He especially cherished teaching his daughter Ashley to fish, and together they created countless memories on the water. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling, and he possessed remarkable artistic talent-creating pieces that his family will forever treasure.

Above all else, David loved spending time with Betty and their family. Home was his happiest place, where he brought light, comfort, and laughter to the people he cherished most, especially to Betty, his lifelong partner and soulmate.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; their children Ashley Amen (Jesse Peralez), Elizabeth Hill (Steve), and Lori Harris; grandchildren Shauna, Braeden, Bethany, Damien, Arianna, and Dominick; and great-granddaughter Inez. He is also survived by his siblings Steven Amen (Lorraine), Randy Amen (Sandy), and Susan Lloyd (Rob).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cal and Della Amen; his stepdaughter, Michelle Martinez; and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

David leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday 19, 2025, at Hansen Mortuary, Rupert. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday November 20, 2025, at the Grace Church in Rupert. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
