David grew up in Texas City and graduated from Texas City High School in 1973, where he was a member of the Marching Band. As a young boy he spent most of his time fishing and surfing.
David worked for the Carpenters Union for many years and then retired from Valero after more than 20 years of service. He could be found many nights playing on his porch with friends, or with his dogs Zack and Zoey.
