David Anderson Obituary

David Paul Anderson passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 in Ottertail County, Minnesota.

He was born September 18, 1980, in Wheaton, MN to Julie and Steve Anderson. He had two older siblings, Rachael and Michael. David was baptized October 26, 1980 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, MN and confirmed April 14, 1996 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN. He started school at Herman/Norcross finishing his elementary years at Carlos Elementary. Junior High years were spent at Central Junior High and Discovery Middle School, Alexandria. David attended high school and graduated from Parkers Prairie in 1999. He had a talent for running large machines that involved moving dirt around and drive big trucks but his love was painting and he was exceptionally good at it. He was currently self-employed as a professional painter. The motto on his letterhead read: Perfection one color at a time. David took on various paint jobs, both interior and exterior. One project being the outside of North Effington Lutheran Church west of Parkers Prairie. David became a father on January 8, 2015. He had a daughter they named Amber, he preferred 'baby girl'. David had found his true calling. He was an amazing girl dad. Loving nature as he did, he shared every aspect of collecting rocks, reaching for a beautiful piece of driftwood, or taking a walk in the woods and returning with a handful of leaves. They loved camping in the north woods and kayaking on Lake Superior and yes, finding more rocks. Where David was, Amber wasn't far behind.

David loved being outdoors and doing outdoor activities. A Favorite pass-time was deer hunting, whether it be with a gun or a bow. He loved being on the water in a boat or kayak and was working hard to perfect ice yachting. He recently purchased a piano and was teaching himself how to play. He gardened with his daughter. He always greeted the ladies in the convenience store with a smile and a 'good morning' and shared true knowledge of where to order the best take-out breakfast. David was very willing to lend a hand and shoveled many a sidewalk or deck without being asked. The number of people who he has helped move over the years cannot be guesstimated.

David is proceeded in death by his father, Steven Anderson; grandparents, Elmer and Artys Anderson of Barrett, and Kermit and Gloria Zickur of Evansville. Survived by daughter, Amber and her mother Mandy; Mother, Julie Raap; Step-father, Ken Raap; Sister, Rachael Anderson Olson (Dan); Brother, Michael Anderson (Jana); Nieces and Nephews: Paige Perry (Dave), Grace and Pearl Mattson, Emma and Ella Anderson, Vaughn Kocher, Preston and Jordan (Katherine) Olson; great-niece; great-nephew; Aunts; Uncles; and Cousins.

David's spontaneous smile, twinkling eyes and authentic bear hugs will be forever missed. May God Bless his memory.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Zion Lutheran North Effington Church in rural Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. No visitation prior to the service. Burial following the service at the church cemetery. Arrangements handled by Glende-Nilson Funeral Home.

Julie and family,
So sorry for your loss! One of my favorite memories was when David went with Clark and me to the sixth Twins game in 1987 when they won the World Series. What a delightful young man!
